You bring up many excellent points and provide very thought-provoking examples. This is my first time visiting this site, but I really think you are hitting the nail on the head. Your last paragraph really hit home, and I agree that the federal government will end up turning community schools into government schools. I have no problem with the concept of standards, and I think the current state standards that are in place ensure that students are exposed to all necessary content and do not have gaps in their education, but there is no need for national standards. I find it especially interesting that this change is coming at a time when the economy is in the dumps and money will not be available to fund all of the changes that the Common Core Standards will create as the dominoes fall from the federal to the state to the local level.
